Cathy Marie Hake. 2007. Bethany House. 384 York, 1890Rexall Hume planted his hands on the desk and leaned forward, his scowl rivaling a gargoyle's. "You've tested my patience far too long, Lady Hathwell. A year and a day-that's how long I've waited."After finding Mr. Hume a huge disappointment, Syndey's moved on to plan B. That plan? To disguise herself as a man, travel to Texas-Gooding, Texas-and become a ranch hand on her uncle's place. Maybe it's not the perfect plan. But she's hoping it's good enough to get by a couple of months. That's all she needs. She'd go as herself, BUT she's heard her uncle hates women and that he doesn't have any use for women on a ranch. And there's the fact that he already thinks she's a he. His telegram telling her to come to Texas proved that. He's happy to welcome his nephew. Tim Creighton has always enjoyed ranching. He owns a share in Forsaken Ranch. And he's always welcomed a challenge or two. But. The arrival of "Syd" Hathwell may just be his undoing. Because he can tell from looking that Syd has never worked a day in his life. He is so clueless. How can he transform Syd into a competent ranch hand?! It seems impossible. Still. Someone has to make Syd into a man, and Tim and the other ranch hands try their best. Sydney was disappointed-in a way-that her uncle was away. Tim is in charge of Forsaken, and he puzzles her. She wants to earn his respect, his friendship, but she knows that if her secret comes out, then, everything will change. And Velma, the cook, wasn't fooled for a minute. So it is only a matter of time...I enjoyed this one for the most part. It was an entertaining read-very satisfying. It did get slightly preachy for a chapter or two before Sydney's conversion. But I still liked this one. © Becky Laney of Operation Actually Read Bible

She’s been taken by the Judoon at the end of the last series and we’ll be picking up with her there. Some time has passed, she has been in prison for a very long time,” Chibnall revealed. “She’s struggling. Back on Earth Yaz, Graham and Ryan are struggling to figure out their lives without the Doctor. It’s been 10 months for them since they’ve seen the Doctor and at the beginning of this they discover the presence of a Dalek.”Jodie Whittaker, who plays the Thirteenth Doctor, said that it’s “definitely a team effort throughout” to fight the Daleks in the special, and Mandip Gill, who plays the Doctor’s companion Yasmin Khan, added that Yaz has a real sense of urgency to find the Doctor. “Yaz has a really complex and different connection to the Doctor than the two boys for loads of personal reasons,” said Gill. “So I think it would be safe to say that she is struggling without the Doctor but is probably trying that bit more than the boys to solve this. Probably because there was just no conclusion and that’s a little bit distressing for her but also she has a connection with the Doctor and with Space. She loves being in Sheffield, but there’s just something about Space, and the Doctor that’s just not been fulfilled yet. So there’s just more a sense of urgency with Yaz trying to find the Doctor.”And Whittaker said that this special and the upcoming new season will disrupt the family as viewers know it.“As the Doctor I will say that the fam as a four is no more,” said Whittaker, with Chibnall adding, “I can tell you that it’s very emotional, I think we’ve all been in tears watching it. It’s a really important part of the mix of the special, where you get lots of thrills, lots of spills, lots of humour, lots of Daleks, and lots of emotion. It’s hard, but we don’t shy away from what it means for this family to have its final moments together. And it was emotional off screen, it’s emotional on screen, and it’s an incredible thing. “Because it’s like you said Jodie, you all clicked, and you just never know if that’s going to happen. You could never have known that you would all get on and have such a great time, and I think we all feel very lucky that that happened. And that’s reflected on and off screen, but I hope it feels like a good send off for those two characters whatever happens to them.”Doctor Who Revolution of the Daleks airs Friday, January 1 at 8 ET/PT on BBC America. Cast Crew Details Genres Cast Director Producers Writer Cinematography Composer Studio Country Language Genres Popular reviews More god yaz and the doctor are so cool i wish gay people were real The arguments are not in good faith. This was a traditional Doctor Who story, with a time loop, Daleks and plenty of running up and down corridors, yet still some 'fans' protest. Wouldn't have anything really to do with Yaz having feelings for the Doctor now would it? Anyway, this has been deleted a ton already, so I'll just say Aisling Bea, I really like Dan and Flux was brilliant. Number 2 in my 52 Films by Women in 2022 challenge. My actual review has been deleted from the app 🥲🥲🥲 thanks Letterboxd. 🤬 Not gonna review it again just want to say...🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈2022 i really really liked this. also dan is the number one thasmin shipper confirmed. It wasn't gonna take a lot to attempt to bounce back from the mess that was Flux and its pitiful finale, The Vanquishers, however Eve of the Daleks has done this in possibly the worst way imaginable. All the usual hallmarks of the Chibnall Era are here, the horrific lighting, the flat and bland direction, sleep inducing musical score, very inconsistent visual effects, poor writing and the side characters were incompetent on a whole other Daleks are treated as a joke once again and the props looked extremely off, almost as if they hadn't been kept in storage and just left outside to rust. I can at least give Nicholas Briggs the benefit of praise as his Dalek… Aisling Bea career getting even bigger after the bad Home Alone movie she's in, she's absolutely delightful in this New Year's special of Doctor really think Chibnail and crew excel in the specials, as it's a singular episode untied to the season's myriad well, it's a nice follow-up to the Flux storyline, which was solid up until the last two episodes when there were too many plates spinning to resolve anywhere near TARDIS looking damaged from the Flux event is a pretty fun exploration as well, that there's still scars from that story arc we're dealing one of my favorites of the Jodie Whittaker era as well. Looking forward to the last four specials for her Doctor. Also, the time loop mechanic in this episode is very, very fun and uniquely an all around fun episode of Doctor Who to ring in the New Year. Even though I’m not huge on a lot of Chris Chibnall’s Doctor Who stories but I’ve grown to really love Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor and her companions. Yaz and Dan balance out the Doctor really well and I really enjoyed this New Year’s special. It feels the most New Year’s out of all the specials so far, having an interesting claustrophobic time loop premise that I enjoyed a lot. Really great special overall. Check it out. 52 films by women 2022 1/52. Oh, for fuck's sake, it's a seasonal special. There is absolutely precedent for these being up on Letterboxd. All of the other ones are. And yet here I am, having just typed a review I was very proud of, watching the fucker disappear into the void yet again because some jumped-up little shit on TMDB keeps ruining the party. I'm sorry if it isn't true kino like all the seasons of Marvel TV shows you daren't pull this shit with but let people who like old British nerd shows have their This was good, a possible metaphor for the difficulty of breaking out of a year's worth of destructive routines and having… My Doctor Who Christmas and tv show spent all New Year’s Day watching season 13 or better known as the special series called The Flux just so that I could watch this today too. I made it… well barely. I ended up watching this way past my bedtime. I loved it! It’s New Year’s Eve at a “Elf Storage” with a time loop! Groundhogs Day is even mentioned in this movie too!!It was sad saying goodbye to Graham and Ryan last season. I loved The Flux series!! I really was happy with how it showed pretty much all of Doctor Who’s enemies. And to help the TARDIS reboot the Doc and fam definitely needed a vacation, I’m… These bitches gay, good for them. Really fun! Had a few internet issues getting this to work on BBC IPlayer and wasn't the smoothest of viewing experiences, but Chibnall always raises his game when dealing with the Daleks and this wraps up a nice trilogy that began in Resolution even if that is my favourite - warts and all. Aisling Bea is the highlight here - stepping in from This Way Up as the same character and having a great time. Jodie is of course great, some development on the 13/Yas relationship is always welcome, and it's a nice bookend to a year of mostly great time travel stories and loops outside of Who. John Bishop's Dan is the best recurring character of the Chibnall era of Who, hands down though. His interaction with the Dalek is gold. HuTNT.
